So peeps searching for scout logs for the platinum trophy could find this very misleading lol. The only thing I think people may find annoying is that these corpses can be found quite frequently and they’re marked on the map with the same symbol as a scout log. They went down quite easily in my case and it dropped a child’s watch. Or, Upon scanning, the corpse will turn corrupted, tentacles spawning from the Selene corpse and you have to fight them. Haven’t tried this out yet but I’m assuming you’ll get a random item. Or you can choose to salvage them, which costs ether. If you kill it you get some either (like 4 or 5 pieces). In my case the room went into lockdown, a malignant dog spawned and I was dead soon after lol.

You can choose to avenge or scavenge them. If you choose to scan two things can happen (as far as I can tell): Basically you can find Selene corpses that you can scan. If I find a Large Silphium that Im planning on grabbing anyway its worth the trip to go back to the Reclaimer and take some extra damage for an artifact first. It's just a case of getting more familiar with his attacks, knowing which ones can dodge safely and which ones you need to take more care with - maybe even taking a break from shooting if it helps. I know a lot of people avoid them altogether.ĭon't give up :) The first boss is definitely a tough one, if you can get through that you can probably get through every challenge the game throws at you. Look out for the astronaut figurine, it's often available in the first shop.Īvoid parasites and malignant items unless you're comfortable with the downsides. Keep leveling up those gun perks - they might seem minor but they do make the game get easier over time. It makes the platforming a little trickier but is generally useful in combat. There's an option for auto sprint - lots of people recommend this (though I've not tried it myself). Never ADS - you only have to be vaguely on target to hit things in this game, the emphasis is much more on movement and dodging. When you die in the fight, or in general after picking up the memento, you'll be brought back to life quite quickly, given another chance to fight.Click to shrink. It can be a little tricky to get started, but here's a few tips I've seen a lot: We recommend saving this pick up for when you're taking on the boss because a second life likely won't be more useful anywhere else in the game than during a boss fight. The game doesn't necessarily tell you this, but that's what picking the memento up does for you. Pick it up and you'll now have a second life. In the Overgrown Ruins example, this memento will be a small figurine of an astronaut. This device takes off a certain amount of your health upon use, but it also spawns a random artifact.

Right beside you will be a new "collectible" as it were. Reclaimer: Like the Inert Reclaimer, but lit up by a red fluorescent light instead of a green one. Upon completion, you'll end up outside the home. Once you have it, head to the house and complete the sequence that takes place inside. You won't be able to enter it until you have the House Key, which can be found elsewhere in the biome. In the Overgrown Ruins, you'll come across a strange ranch-style home. We won't spoil anything that can or might happen in later parts of the game, so we'll stick to the first biome of the game, the Overgrown Ruins, for now. Y ou need what is essentially a memento from one of the mysterious houses found in the biomes of Returnal. Fortunately, that's an actual possibility. It's in those moments that you're going to wish you had a second life. It's absolutely ok to die (and it's part of how you uncover more of the story in Returnal), but there will be times when your death comes cheaply or at a very untimely moment. This is literally what happens - when you die, you'll be brought back to the very beginning and the next sequence of rooms and hallways you go through will be completely different from the sequence in your previous run. Returnal is a rogue-lite game in nature which means that every time you die, the layout of the biome you're in will change.
